Create Fillable PDF Form using Acrobat X Pro 10.1.8 from Word 2008 for Mac I have a Word 2008 doc on a Mac. It is fully designed with form fields. I need it to be a pdf file for my client where the form fields can be filled out but the remainder of the document is protected/static.
I have saved it as pdf from Word and opened it in Acrobat X Pro. I went to view/tools/forms/edit.
It did not detect my form fields (No new form field annotations were detected). I tried adding form fields - although time consuming I am getting desperate.The fields I have added are not working properly (text stays centered although I click 'left' alignment - thick black lines on the boxes although I've selected 'none'). How did you create your PDF file from Word? The best way is to bring up the Print dialog, then click on the PDF button in the lower left corner, and then select 'Save as Adobe PDF' (don't use 'Save as PDF', go further down until you find 'Save as Adobe PDF'). If you've used a different method, try this and then see if you can detect any form fields. If this does not work, then unfortunately, you will have to add your form fields manually.
Word Templates should be able to do that, but the program is so 'sophisticated' you may never figure out how. One problem that might cause fields to move in Word, is when you enter more data than they were designed to hold. A program I used in the past, was FileMaker. You are correct, this is quite time consuming, but it's your only option. The form fields should behave correctly - I don't know why you are experiencing these weird effects.
